This is the second edition of the Statistical Pocketbook of the Statistics Division of the African Union. The purpose of the pocketbook is to present a synopsis of statistics available in other publications of the Statistics Division. The pocketbook presents what are key economic and social indicators for African countries. It must be mentioned at this juncture that the main publication of AUSTAT is the Annual Statistical Yearbook, which is a joint venture with the other sister statistical organs of the African Continent, namely the Statistics Department of the African Development Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa’s African Centre for Statistics.
