The 7th Executive Committee Meeting of the Second Strategy for the Harmonization of Statistics in Africa (SHaSA 2)

STATAFRIC proudly hosted the 7th Executive Committee Meeting of the Second Strategy for the Harmonization of Statistics in Africa (SHaSA 2), held from 26 to 28 November 2025 at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This important gathering brought together national SHaSA 2 coordinators, representatives from Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Pan-African organizations, statistical training institutions, and development partners. The focus was on reviewing the progress made in 2025 and strengthening coordination within the African Statistical System.

Notable achievements during the meeting included:
✔️ Presentation and evaluation of the implementation of recommendations from the 6th Executive Committee
✔️ Submission of reports and action plans from 13 operational Specialized Technical Groups (STGs)
✔️ Launch of the SHaSA 2 Implementation Platform to facilitate collaboration, knowledge exchange, and monitoring
✔️ Reinforced partnerships with RECs, AFRISTAT, AfDB, UNECA, APRM, UN agencies, and statistical training institutions
✔️ Adoption of strategic recommendations to advance harmonized data production, foster innovation, build capacity, and improve governance
✔️ Election of the SHaSA 2 Executive Committee Bureau for 2025
✔️ Initiation of preparations for the development of SHaSA 3, featuring an inclusive process aligned with Agenda 2063
