Appointment of Leila Ben Ali as Acting Executive Director for STATAFRIC in Tunis, Tunisia

The African Union Institute for Statistics (STATAFRIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Leila Ben Ali-Kraiem as the Acting Executive Director of the Institute, by decision of H.E. Dr. Monique Nsanzabaganwa, The Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

Mrs Ben Ali brings with her extensive experience in data management and statistical analysis, which will be a valuable asset to the Institute in its mission to promote the development of statistical systems in Africa.

Mrs Ben Ali has had a distinguished career in the field of statistics, having worked in various positions in government agencies and international organizations. Prior to her appointment, Mrs Ben Ali served as the Head of Statistics Division and several other positions within the African Union since 2007.

In her new role as Acting Executive Director of STATAFRIC, Mrs Ben Ali will be responsible for overseeing the Institute's programs and initiatives, which aim to improve the quality and availability of statistical data in Africa. This includes capacity building, technical assistance, and research and development in the field of statistics, in addition to the promotion of the African Charter on Statistics and SHaSA 2.

The Institute looks forward to working with Mrs Ben Ali and benefiting from her wealth of experience in the field of statistics.

Mrs Ben Ali holds a PHD in Demography from University of Versailles, a Master in Demography from Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of Tunis, and Engineering degree in Statistics from INSEAT, Rabat, Morocco.
