Balance of payments
The Balance of payments is a statistical statement that summarizes, for a specific period, the economic transactions of an economy with the rest of the world. Transactions for the most part between residents and non-residents consist of those involving goods, services, and income; those involving financial claims on, and liabilities to, the rest of the world; and those classified as transfers which involve offsetting entries to balance, in an accounting sense, onesided transactions. Data in this section are obtained from African Central Banks and where data are not available from national sources or if country data do not meet the required quality, IMF Country Reports are also used. Data from international sources relate to the following countries: Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, and Libya.
